Waterlogging threat for Warwick

Warwick will have to pass a 7am inspection if Saturday afternoon's National Hunt meeting is to go ahead.

Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma reports parts of the track to be waterlogged with further rain forecast tonight.

She said: "We had 16.2 millimetres of rain last night and that has left us with waterlogging in places.

"We are forecast a largely dry day with the rain to clear soon and leave some decent sunshine. We will spend the day clearing as much of the water as we can, pumping and sweeping where we can.

"However, we are forecast more rain tonight which is a cause for concern as we are saturated and further rain would jeopardise the meeting. We just hope we don't get too much more.

"Depending on which forecast you look at, we could get 3-5mm or 6-8mm. These storms are so hit and miss that it's hard to predict."
