Watson knocked out in Miami

British number one Heather Watson endured another early exit as she was beaten 1-6 7-5 6-4 by Japan's Ayumi Morita in the first round of the Sony Open Tennis in Miami.

Watson was also a first round casualty at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells last time out, losing in straight sets to Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu.

The 20-year-old looked on course to get back to winning ways in Miami as she motored through the first set against Morita to get her nose in front.

But it proved a much more even contest from that point, both players breaking during the course of a tight second set that Morita eventually pinched late on to level.

The decider proved another tight affair, but it was the Japanese world number 50 who came out on top, sealing victory after two hours and 45 minutes on court.

Morita will now go on to play Belgium's world number 30, Yanina Wickmayer, in the second round.
