York City manager Gary Mills felt his side deserved at least a point against Southend on Saturday afternoon.
The Minstermen held their hosts to a 0-0 draw in an uneventful game at Roots Hall and came close to opening the scoring in the 56th minute when Blair raced clean through on goal.
However, the winger was unable to find a way past Shrimpers goalkeeper Paul Smith who did well to deny the winger with a fine double save. And they created more chances to win it late on which left Mills delighted by his team's display.
"I thought we were excellent and fully merited at least a point from the game," said Mills.
"We could've taken all three points had our final ball been better but I'm pleased with how we've played because Southend is a tough place to come and play.
"We kept our shape superbly though and that stopped Southend playing. At the end they had to go more route one and caused us problems but we dug in to get a good clean sheet and point."
