Welsh nearing a return
Scunthorpe winger Andy Welsh is edging closer to a return to first-team action following a career-threatening knee injury.
The 30-year-old has been restricted to six appearances for Scunthorpe this season following surgery in September to resolve a cartilage problem
"Andy has trained, but we have to be careful what with it being four months he's been out," manager Russ Wilcox told the club's official website.
"He's not done a lot of work with us, mainly because we've been indoors on the AstroTurf.
"We've been on the grass (on Tuesday), which has been great. We had an XI versus an XI match and he's played a part in that, which is a positive."
Scunthorpe striker Matt Godden is also closing in on a return after being sidelined since December due to an ankle injury.
Wilcox added: "I've spoken to Matty, and hopefully on Saturday we'll do what we've done in previous games and do a proper training session after the match.
"If he can be involved in that, and comes through it fine, then he's back in the fold."
