Charlie Wi stayed in control of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am after maintaining his overnight three-shot lead in the first half of his third round.
However, a number of players below him were making charges up the field - notably Tiger Woods.
The South Korean, whose opening round 61 gave him control of the field, managed just one birdie in the first nine at Spyglass Hill, at the fourth hole.
It gave him a three-shot advantage over United States pair Kevin Na and Joseph Bramlett, who managed three birdies apiece.
However, Woods was an ominous presence a further shot back after three birdies in his first eight holes today left him four shots off pole position.
The former world number one bogeyed his third hole today, the 12th, but battled back strongly. He registered birdies in the next three holes and after par on the 16th made up another shot on the 17th.
Fellow Americans Ricky Barnes and Brendon Todd were alongside Woods on nine under par, with a cluster of seven players a further shot back.
