Wiggins wowed by Wigan gesture
Bradley Wiggins says receiving his life membership from Wigan Warriors provided him with his proudest moment of 2012.
Wiggins became the first Briton to win the Tour de France last year, followed it by striking gold at the Olympics and was then named BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
He also received a knighthood from the Queen in the New Year Honours List but insists his biggest accolade was bestowed on him by his favourite Super League club.
Wiggins, who took part in a Sky Sports advertisement promoting the start of the new Super League season, told the broadcaster: "It's a fantastic sport for my own children to come and watch and be inspired by.
"The biggest accolade I received last year was from Wigan Warriors when they made me a life member and I went so far as to have a tattoo on my arm to honour that."
Wiggins, who is a regular visit to the DW Stadium, has "Warrior: Ancient and Loyal" tattooed on his left arm.
