Wilcox gets number-two role

League Two outfit Bournemouth have secured the appointed of 47-year-old Russ Wilcox as their new assistant manager.

The former Scunthorpe defender has been on the coaching staff at the Iron, Sheffield Wednesday and, most recently, Burnley.

Wilcox made more than 500 appearances before hanging up his boots in 2003, and has since gone on to earn his UEFA Pro Licence and a certificate in applied management from the University of Warwick.

He joins the Cherries on an 18-month contract as manager Lee Bradbury's right-hand man.
