Wildcats too strong for Lions

London Lions slumped to a disappointing 83-72 home defeat to fourth-bottom Durham Wildcats on Sunday.

Chez Marks poured in a game-high 30 points while Rod Brown added 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists but no other London player could score in double figures as the Lions missed the chance to claim a fourth-successive win and put pressure on the top four.

In Sunday's other match, Cheshire Phoenix edged a high-scoring encounter against local rivals Manchester Giants 104-95.

The Giants led by five points after the first quarter and at half-time but Cheshire hit back and, with Dominique Coleman (33 points), Reggie Middleton (31 points) and Victor Moses (25 points and 12 rebounds) leading the way, they claimed their 10th win of the season.
