Wilder: Northampton must be ready

Northampton boss Chris Wilder is keen to avoid another slow start to the season when they entertain Mansfield in Saturday's League Two opener.

The Cobblers picked up just five points from their first nine fixtures last term, but rallied to win four of their last six and Wilder wants to pick up where they left off.

"We're all refreshed and ready to go, so we're looking forward to the start of the season," he told Northampton Town Player. "It's been a tough pre-season for the players, but as one season ends, you get a break and then you go again. That's the beauty of the game.

"We're all off a level playing field again and we want to be successful. There's excitement, intrepidation - you don't really know what you're going into.

"But you're confident and everybody is positive about the new season. I keep saying it, but with the signings we've made, we should be looking to take the end-of-season momentum into the new campaign."
