Wilkinson wants Stoke stay

Stoke City defender Andy Wilkinson has said that he wants to stay at the club for next season.

The 29-year-old right-back is out of contract with the Potters in the summer and has yet to sign a new deal.

The Englishman, who has been at Stoke his entire career, has played a bit-part role this campaign, featuring in just five Premier League fixtures.

However, Wilkinson believes that he can still be an important part of the club's future under manager Mark Hughes and hopes to earn a new contract.

"I am so lucky to play for the team that I supported as a kid and the longer that goes on the better," Wilkinson told the Stoke Sentinel.

"It has been a frustrating season for me, not playing as many games as I would have liked to, but that is a credit to the lads who have played, so there has not been many opportunities to get a game

"I feel that I still have something to offer and hopefully if I stay next season, I can do that."
