David Pipe's Gevrey Chambertin earned quotes for the Cheltenham Festival with an easy success at Wincanton.
Pipe chose the Bathwick Tyres Poole Handicap Hurdle as the next step for his unbeaten hurdler, a full-brother to his high-class stable companion Grands Crus, and he took his tally to three in effortless fashion.
Always to the fore under Tom Scudamore, who rode in this race before flying to Chepstow to partner Master Overseer in the Coral Welsh National, the 5-6 favourite ran out a seven-length winner from 66-1 chance Oscar Prairie.
William Hill offer 14-1 for the Neptune Novices' Hurdle in March and 12-1 for the Albert Bartlett.
Pipe's father, Martin, told Racing UK: "Hopefully he can only progress. He's very relaxed and we're very happy with him.
"I was surprised he came here but it was good placing.
"If he's half as good as Grands Crus we'll be delighted and he's going that way."
