Winning start for Ouseph

English men's singles number one Rajiv Ouseph produced an upset to knock out Du Pengyu in the Yonex All England Open Championships first round.

Ouseph, the world number 20, prevailed 21-16 11-21 21-14 against the Chinese player in 64 minutes at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.

Husband-and-wife team Chris and Gabby Adcock, ranked five in the world in mixed doubles, also came through their opener, beating Indonesia's Irfan Fadhilah and Weni Anngrainni 21-9 17-21 21-14.

Chris Adcock was also victorious in the men's doubles as he and Andy Ellis came from behind to beat Liang Jui Wei and Liao Kuan Hao of Taiwan in three games.

Gabby Adcock enjoyed a women's doubles win as she and Lauren Smith beat Dutch pair Eefje Muskens and Selena Piek, also in three.
