Wolves routed, Frankfurt rally

Wolfsburg missed the chance to go fourth in the Bundesliga table as they were thrashed 6-2 at Hoffenheim, while Frankfurt beat Stuttgart 2-1.

Striker Anthony Modeste struck twice, before earning a standing ovation from the home fans, in a decisive burst at the end of the first half.

Roberto Firmino's opener had been cancelled out by Bas Dost before Hoffenheim took charge in the shadows of half-time.

Niklas Sule fired them back ahead on 37 minutes before Modeste netted twice in the space of three minutes.

Ivan Perisic pulled a goal back for Wolfsburg in the 76th minute, but a Sejad Salihovic penalty after Christian Trasch was sent off, and a Sven Schipplock goal completed the scoring to take Hoffenheim 10 points clear of the bottom three.

Eintracht Frankfurt struck twice in the final 10 minutes to beat Stuttgart 2-1.

Martin Hatnik's 31st-minute goal looked good enough until the hosts stole away the points thanks to Jan Rosenthal (80) and Alexander Meier (89).
