Wonder in Newmarket frame

Brian Meehan is "seriously considering" a tilt at the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday week for J Wonder.

The daughter of Footstepsinthesand made a winning three-year-old debut in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury earlier this month, earning herself a tilt at either next weekend's Guineas at Newmarket or the French Guineas, the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, at Longchamp on May 11.

Meehan was initially leaning towards a trip to Paris, but is now having a change of heart.

Speaking on his website, the trainer said: "J Wonder was partnered by Jimmy Fortune in the spin and worked six furlongs with two lead horses. We were both very pleased with the way she worked.

"She has taken everything in her stride since Newbury, including the workout, and she has improved for the run.

"She looked tremendous on the gallops on Thursday. We were favouring the French race but are now seriously considering the 1000 Guineas.

"We are expecting a big run after that work."
