Worcestershire ease past Holland

Worcestershire recorded a nine-wicket thumping of Clydesdale Bank 40 Group A leaders Holland at Sportpark Westvliet.

After the contest was reduced to 39 overs per side due to the inclement weather, Gareth Andrew and Jack Shantry took three wickets apiece as Holland were all out for just 57 in 23.2 overs.

Worcestershire easily reached their target after 13.1 overs, with Vikram Solanki's unbeaten 39 off 40 deliveries showing the home batsmen how it is done.

After being put in to bat, Holland never really recovered from losing Stephan Myburgh to the very first ball, caught behind off David Lucas.

Only Tom Cooper (25) and captain Peter Borren (12) reached double figures as the rest of their line-up was blown away, with Andrew's three wickets - including two in two balls - costing just nine runs.

Worcestershire lost Moeen Ali for five to Timm van der Gugten in the fifth over of their reply but they never looked susceptible to a collapse.

Solanki struck five fours in his knock while he was helped over the line by Australian left-hander Phil Hughes, who contributed 12.

Victory helped Worcestershire move up to second in the table - five points behind their beaten opponents, who have played three more games.
