Worley beats Maze in Austria
Tessa Worley beat defending champion Tina Maze by over a second to claim World Championship gold in the giant slalom in Schladming, Austria.
Worley built on a 1.09-second lead after the first run to triumph in a total time of two minutes 8.06 seconds, 1.12secs ahead of pre-race favourite Maze.
Maze, who won her third medal of the Championships following gold in the Super-G and silver in the super-combined, moved up from fourth after a disappointing first run.
Austria's Anna Fenninger took the bronze medal, 0.06secs behind Maze.
Worley's gold was the second of the championships for France after Marion Rolland won the women's downhill last Sunday.
