League Two strugglers York City have named Nigel Worthington as their new manager after Gary Mills was axed on Saturday.
The Minstermen regained their Football League status after winning the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off final against Luton last season.
But a series of poor results led to the dismissal of Mills on Saturday, just hours after they lost 2-0 at home to Bradford.
Worthington will now attempt to keep them in League Two, with City currently in 18th position, just four points above the relegation zone.
"The decision to appoint Nigel was based on his solid Football League experience, his strong coaching ability and his extensive knowledge of players throughout the leagues," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The York City Board of Directors welcomes Nigel Worthington to the club and looks forward to working with him. "
