Yankees tame Tigers
The New York Yankees ended their four-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the high-flying Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium.
The Tigers top the American League Central after winning 12 games on the bounce, but that run came to an end in the Big Apple after a Brett Gardner single in the 10th inning.
Jayson Nix scored the winning run after having replaced Alex Rodriguez in the ninth. Third baseman Rodriguez, playing his first home game of the season, went 0-for-4 as he continue to play for the Yankees after appealing against his 211-game ban.

The NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers came from 6-0 adrift through six innings to beat Tampa Bay 7-6, taking four runs in the ninth inning off Rays closer Fernando Rodney whose throwing error gifted the winning run.
