Cheltenham boss Mark Yates was delighted after Bristol Rovers old boy Chris Zebroski struck the winner against his former club.
Zebroski capitalised on a mistake by Garry Kenneth six minutes before the break to fire home at the second attempt after his first effort was blocked.
His strike secured a 1-0 victory for the Robins, and Yates said: "I'm chuffed to bits for Chris. Some of the language directed at him by the home fans was way out of order.
"He has been fantastic since joining us and never gave the Rovers defence a minute's peace. It's one up to him on the night.
"We had to absorb some pressure at the end, but I felt we controlled most of the game.
"Rovers were desperate for a first home win and we knew it wouldn't be easy. But their goalkeeper has made a lot of good saves so I'm very pleased with our performance."
