York and Millers share spoils

York and Rotherham played out an entertaining goalless draw at Bootham Crescent to keep both sides in mid-table in League Two.

In a first half with very few chances, York duo Jason Walker and Ashley Chambers both tested Scott Shearer with Michael O'Connor stinging the palms of Michael Ingham at the opposite end.

At the start of the second period York broke and almost took the lead through Walker. The striker played a one-two with Michael Coulson before seeing his shot go agonisingly wide of Shearer's right post.

Lionel Ainsworth then squandered Rotherham's best chance of the game as he burst through the home defence only to poke the ball wide under pressure from Jamal Fyfield.

On the hour mark, Shearer pulled off a fantastic double save to keep the scores level as he palmed away Walker's chip before getting back to deny Patrick McLaughlin a certain goal.

In the dying seconds, Danny Kearns found Chambers in the box but he could only fire against Shearer's post from an acute angle.
