Yuvraj blasts Bangalore to win

Yuvraj Singh hit an unbeaten 68 as Bangalore Royal Challengers beat Delhi Daredevils by 16 runs to boost their Indian Premier League play-off hopes.

Yuvraj hit nine sixes and one four in a blistering 29-ball innings as Bangalore, who had been put into bat, finished on 186-4.

In reply, bottom side Delhi could only muster 170-7; JP Duminy's 48 the top score, while skipper Kevin Pietersen found some form with a 29-ball 33.

After being put into bat, Singh belted the Delhi bowlers to all corners of M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He helped plunder 21 off the 17th over and 27 off the final over to take the game away from the visitors.

Every Royal Challengers batsman reached double figures, with AB de Villiers' 17-ball 33 - before being bowled by Siddharth Kaul - helping to push the score along.

Stuttering start

In reply, the Delhi innings got off to a stuttering start, with Muttiah Muralitharan trapping Murali Vijay leg-before for just one in the first over, while Mitchell Starc bowled fellow opener Quinton de Kock for six in the next over.

Mayank Agarwal and Pietersen then gave Delhi some hope, adding 63 runs off 44 balls for the third wicket. After Agarwal (31) was out, Duminy and Pietersen added a further 24 runs before the skipper was stumped off Yuzvendra Chahal in the 12th over.

Delhi needed 85 runs off the final seven overs and Duminy and Kedar Jadhav added 45 runs off 28 deliveries to keep the visitors in the game.

But Starc bowled Duminy in the 18th over to hand the hosts the initiative and Delhi still needed 26 runs off the last over.

Jadhav's (37) struck the first ball for a six to give his side hope, but he could only manage a single off the next and was then run out a couple deliveries later as Banglahore posted a much needed win, which halted a three-match losing run and re-ignited their play-off hopes.
