PEC Zwolle and VVV-Venlo played out a 0-0 draw in the Eredivisie on Friday evening which did little for either team's cause.
The promoted hosts had the better of the chances but could not find a way past VVV goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa, who produced a fine reflex save on the stroke of half-time to keep out Jesper Drost's deflected shot and also denied Denni Avdic in stoppage time.
The result lifted VVV one place to 16th in the standings - one position and still two points worse off than their opponents.
