When did The Killers become so ordinary? There are those who would argue their lustre dulled after going bombastic on second album Sam's Town, while others stayed loyal to the cause until last year's Day & Age LP. There are even some who'd say the Las Vegas quartet are still going strong, but they are a dying breed.
In fact, 'Spaceman' could be the track to prove them right, as the band unveil one of their best outings in years. Brandon Flowers waffles about intergalactic nonsense and the Nile, naturally, but there are enough thudding beats, hooky basslines and thundering '80s-inspired riffs to make it a more than acceptable option for getting down to on dancefloors.
At times it could almost be The Killers of old. It isn't, of course, but it nonetheless serves as a reminder that this lot weren't always stuck in the middle of the road.
