He may have worked with everyone from Craig David to Frankmusik and arty New York hipsters Gang Gang Dance, but when it was first announced that grime's new king Tinchy Stryder was working with melodramatic hip-hoppers (and silly hat fans) N-Dubz, we were expecting the results to be more OTT than Graham Norton after a barrel of Red Bull.
Thankfully our fears have been allayed; 'Number 1' is an insanely catchy slice of pop-rap, minus the drama.
A funky, '80s-style bassline is complimented by some taut string action and a chorus that rivals the Crazy Frog in the just-can't-get-it-out-of-your-head stakes. Quite simply, 'Number 1' is the kind of catchy collaboration that's destined to head straight to the upper end of the chart (the clue's in the title).
