Moody but brilliant Brooklyn odd-rock crew TVOTR thrilled all the coolest music fans but sold few records when they returned to the pop fray with third LP Dear Science in 2008.
This sad situation might change with 'Dancing Choose', perhaps the most accessible track on the album which includes many trademarks of the serious lads' sound.
Slippery, syncopated beats, an urgent vocal from Tunde Adebimpe, an overall feel like classic Prince, a buzzing undertone that mirrors the unrest suggested in the lyrics and a saxophone-assisted chorus make this a multi-layered treat that rewards with repeated listens.
Top marks for the images evoked by the chorus, too: "In my mind I'm drowning butterflies/Broken dreams and alibis."
Sadly it's probably a little too odd for most punters, who won't fancy spending their hard-earned on this strange confection.
Still, this won't bother guitarist Dave Sitek: his other job involves producing albums for Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Scarlett Johansson.
