It's a brave man who releases a track called 'Summertime' at the start of October, and an even braver man who snatches a classic Daft Punk sample in the wake of Kanye West's impressive 'Stronger'.
After the marvels of 'Wearing My Rolex', there's been a long wait for 'Summertime' as Wiley sat, fingers crossed, waiting for a bout of UK sunshine to give this tune lift off. Needless to say, his timing isn't perfect.
The sample of 'Aerodynamic' and the lyrical repetition of the title make for a catchy single that, although not overly daring, will stir some good-time memories of the season that never was. It's not Wiley's finest hour, though, as his rap flow struggles to find lyrical territory beyond the obvious.
For a man who said he'd never compromise in order to get into the mainstream, this is the ultimate in selling out. Time for the grime man to eat his words.
