commentary

Over 97. 2 runs. Bowler: Nathan Lyon. West Indies: 294/10(rr 3.03)

OUT! Caught. Lyon to Sammy. Off break length ball, to leg on the front foot sweeping, top edge to short fine leg, fielded by Hilfenhaus. Sammy gets this one wrong and Hilfenhaus has time to get under it and that is the end of the Test. Clarke and Lyon picked up all five wickets this morning, Clarke finishing with five and Lyon three. Sammy and Shillingford entertained a good crowd in a losing cause, both recording their highest Test scores. However, the poor performance by the top three yesterday always meant that it would a bridge too far. Australia win this Test by 75 runs, and take the series 2-0. Wade's century in the first innings has earned him the Man of the Match award. Chanderpaul wins the Man of the Series award for his consistent batting.

Harris to Sammy. In-swinging back of a length, off stump on the back foot Fended, to slips for 1 run, fielded by Hussey. That will be Sammy's second Test fifty. Hopefully the umpires will not reversed the award of runs off the previous ball at a later stage, as does sometimes happen.

Harris to Sammy. Seaming in short, middle stump on the back foot hooking, hit helmet to fine leg for 2 runs, fielded by Wade. Sammy deserves some luck. That missed the gloves, the replay shows, and only hit the helmet. Perhaps it did just brush the gloves, let's give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.

match report

Captain Michael Clarke took five wickets as Australia wrapped up a 2-0 series win over the West Indies in the third and final Test at Roseau.

The left-arm spinner's second five-wicket haul in Test cricket saw the hosts dismissed for 294 shortly before lunch on the final day, meaning Australia won by 75 runs.

Clarke's captaincy counterpart Darren Sammy counter-attacked in vain with a quickfire Test-best 61 but received little support as the lower order subsided to the spin of Clarke (five for 86) and Nathan Lyon (three for 87).

Slow bowlers had been to the fore throughout, with Dominican Shane Shillingford taking 10 Australian wickets on his home island and Narsingh Deonarine adding three, Lyon scooping seven for the tourists and David Warner removing Darren Bravo in the first innings.

The Windies resumed on 173 for five, still needing another 197 for victory, and were quickly in further trouble when Deonarine chipped a return catch to Clarke, who had taken three top-order wickets on Thursday.

Carlton Baugh, dropped from the squad to tour England, made just 12 before falling to Lyon, who soon added the wicket of Kemar Roach thanks to a catch by Clarke.

Ravi Rampaul hit a four and a six before skying Clarke to mid-on, the ball eventually dropping for Warner to take the catch and complete his skipper's nap hand.

Shillingford punctuated his unconvincing defence with three successive boundaries off Lyon and Sammy reached a 41-ball half-century with a single off Ryan Harris, having hit three fours and three sixes.

Shillingford survived two lbw appeals and pulled Harris for his fifth boundary before his sixth, a cover drive off Mitchell Starc, saw him also reach his highest Test score with 28.

He went on to 31 in a stand of 49 but when Sammy top-edged a sweep at Lyon to Ben Hilfenhaus at fine leg, the match was over.
