Over 20. 9 runs. Bowler: Veer Singh. Pune Warriors: 173/5(rr 8.65)
Singh to Samuels. Length ball, off stump on the front foot driving, well timed to deep mid wicket for 1 run. Deccan have won their second game of the IPL by 13 runs. It always seemed a tall order for Pune, there was hope during the middle overs for the Warriors when Clarke and Ganguly occupied the crease but it was essentially curtains when they departed. Sangakkara was outstanding today both with the bat and out in the field. Cameron White should also be mentioned for his effort with the bat today. It was that partnership that won the game for Deccan Chargers today.

The turning point of this innings was the bizarre run out of Michael Clarke. Pune must be wondering what could of been.

Steyn to Smith. Yorker, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, well timed to cover for 1 run, fielded by Sangakkara.

Pune now need 71 from 30 balls, it looks unlikely from this position but stranger things have happened.

Mishra to Smith. Leg spinner length ball, off stump on the front foot defending, back to bowler for no runs, fielded by Mishra. Deccan still don't look completely at ease perhaps because of the fact they have been in this situation many times before this season, and let it slip through their fingers.

FOUR! Dhawan to Uthappa. Length ball, off stump on the front foot reverse sweeping, well timed past third man for 4 runs.
OUT! Caught. Dhawan to Ganguly. Half volley, middle stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air uncontrolled to extra cover, fielded by White. The dismissal off Clarke has led to the end of Ganguly. Pune needed those two to stay in but they haven't managed to. Big effort needed now by the Warriors with the required rate up at 12.

OUT! Run Out. NOT OUT changed by umpire to OUT after REFERRAL. Singh to Clarke. Length ball, middle stump on the front foot pushing, leading edge to deep cover for 1 run, fielded by Dhawan, dropped catch by Dhawan. What a mess that was! IPL 2012 – Match 42
Deccan Chargers v Pune Warriors
Tue 1 May 2012, 11:30am BST, 04:00pm local
Deccan Chargers win by 13 runs
| Deccan Chargers | 186-4 (20 ovs) |
|---|---|
| Pune Warriors | 173-5 (20 ovs) |
Kumar Sangakkara and Cameron White led Deccan Chargers to just their second IPL win this season following a 13-run triumph over Pune Warriors.
Sangakkara and White put on 137 runs for the third wicket to help the Chargers to 186 for four after they won the toss, with Sangakkara making 82, including 10 fours and two sixes in his 52-ball knock.
Australian White was no shrinking violet however and bludgeoned four boundaries and as many maximums on his way to 74 off just 45 deliveries.
Wayne Parnell and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the pick of the bowlers with one for 25 and one for 22 respectively although the rest of the attack were given short shrift as the Chargers scored 95 runs off the last six overs of their innings.
The Warriors were always behind the asking rate and lost wickets at crucial intervals.
Skipper Sourav Ganguly made 45, while Michael Clarke, making his IPL debut after returning from captaining Australia in their Test series against West Indies, struck 41.
But they could not go on to make a matchwinning score and although allrounder Steve Smith smashed an unbeaten 47 off 27 balls, it was too little, too late and Pune ended their innings on 173 for five.
