Mumbai Indians win by 1 run
| Mumbai Indians | 120-9 (20 ovs) |
|---|---|
| Pune Warriors | 119-6 (20 ovs) |
Over 20. 10 runs. Bowler: Munaf Patel. Pune Warriors: 119/6(rr 5.95)
Patel to Kumar. Full toss, down leg side on the front foot flick, well timed in the air under control to deep mid wicket for 2 runs, fielded by Franklin. Mumbai Indians win by just 1 run and have managed to defend a total of just 120. Fantastic death bowling by the visitors and the scenes in Pune are something to behold. Ganguly has some questions to answer, he only scored 16 off 24 but he shouldn't be the only man to shoulder blame, Pune should have chased that score down with ease. This result is a hammer blow not only in terms of points needed for Pune to reach the top 4 but also the confidence they take into the next games. All of the Mumbai bowlers deserve credit for their efforts, fantastic display. This leaves Mumbai in a good position in the league whilst the Warriors are beginning to fall away.

Pune Warriors fell agonisingly short of victory in their Indian Premier League match with Mumbai Indians on Thursday.
Mumbai batted first and made 120 for nine from their 20 overs, with openers Sachin Tendulkar and James Franklin putting on exactly 50 for the first wicket.
Franklin was dismissed for 25 as Tendulkar ultimately top scored with 34 from 35 balls, with only three other batsmen getting into double figures.
In reply, the home side relied on an unbeaten 42 from 34 balls from Mithun Manhas to get close to their target, and were left needing 12 runs from the final over.
But despite a four from the penultimate ball and two from the last of the match, they came up short with a total of 119 for six.
