commentary

Over 20. 3 runs. Bowler: Sunil Narine. Pune Warriors: 102/8(rr 5.10)

Narine to Murtaza. Off break length ball, off stump on the front foot pushing, to cover for 1 run, fielded by Gambhir. So Kolkata march on and will finish the group stage in second place, and will play Delhi in the qualifier in a few days time. Pune, on the other hand, finish their season on a despondent note. They were challenging for a top four spot early in the season, but have suffered nine successive defeats, an unenviable IPL record. Chasing a moderate target, Ryder struck some big blows early on, but there was little to follow. The statistic of the innings was that there were only three boundaries, all struck by the openers, and the middle order could not cope with some excellent spin bowling from Shakib, Narine and Pathan. Shakib al Hasan had a superb match with both bat and ball, and takes the Man of the Match award.
