commentary

Over 5. 8 runs. Bowler: Naeem Islam. West Indies: 30/0(rr 6.00)

FOUR! Islam to Powell. Off break half volley, to leg on the front foot sweeping, well timed past deep backward square leg for 4 runs. West Indies have won this 2nd Test by 10 wickets and in doing so have won the series 2-0. Gayle and Powell had no problems at all in chasing down the total on this flat pitch and their side have been very impressive in every department of their game over the last 5 days. The foundations were set by the magnificent batting displays from Samuels, Bravo and Chanderpaul in their first innings and that confidence that was exhibhited out in the middle was followed up by great performances with the ball from Tino Best and Permaul. Bangladesh were thoroughly outplayed but Hasan deserves recognition for his batting display in his side's first innings on his debut. In the end though, there were no other stand out showings from his teammates and Bangladesh have an awful lot to ponder as a result of this Test match. West Indies on the other hand, played with confidence and the scorecard shows exactly that.

Start of West Indies Innings. West Indies have to chase down 27 runs to win this 2nd Test and they should do it inside this first session. There is no hope whatsoever for Bangladesh and that is largely due to their ordinary bowling in the previous innings to the West Indies batsmen. Gayle and Powell are opening for the West Indies so expect them to make a fast start and waste little time in chasing the target score.

Over 71. no runs. Bowler: Tino Best. Bangladesh: 287/10(rr 4.04)

OUT! Caught. Best to Hossain. Length ball, outside off stump on the back foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to extra cover, fielded by Bravo. Tino Best has ripped through this Bangladesh side and takes his sixth wicket and in doing so only cost him 40 runs. Bangladesh were fortunate to make 287, if it wasn't for the combined efforts of Al Hasan and Nasir Hossain then Bangladesh would have been truly embarrassed. West Indies bowled a lot better than this second innings total gives them credit for. 6/40 are the best figures of Tino Best's Test career to date and that was done on a slow track, he really deserves a lot of praise for that performance, outstanding.

Over 70. 2 runs. Bowler: Veerasammy Permaul. Bangladesh: 287/9(rr 4.10)
