The plot: Veteran thief Driver crashes his getaway car on the Mexican side of the border, where the local cops pocket the cash and throw him into El Pueblito prison. A tender bond develops between Driver, a 10-year-old urchin and the boy's ballsy mother. It transpires the tyke has the same rare blood type as cartel boss Javi, who runs operations inside the prison and is grooming the 10-year-old as a viable liver donor.
what the others say
Empire
"A Mex-set spaghetti Western featuring toilet humour, organ transplants and the closest Mel Gibson's come to playing Martin Riggs since the last Lethal Weapon."
Total Film
"Melding Mel, Mexico and mariachi, Grunberg's debut is a watchable action-comedy, if a little throwaway. Good Friday-night fun."
