There, Carter was captured by the Tharks - a savage race of 15-feet-tall green warriors - and became embroiled in a bitter conflict between rival clans.

Total Film

"A handsome new sci-fi adventure that feels rather familiar. Enjoyable enough while it lasts, John Carter is big on ambition and disappointingly short on action."

Time Out

"A very entertaining, unusual and loveable mess."

Empire

"Just about every sci-fi/fantasy/superhero adventure you ever loved is in here somewhere."
