The plot: In the God-fearing Georgia town of Pacashau, the Sacred Divinity church is the focus of everyone's prayers. The choir led by Bernard Sparrow inspires hope so when he passes away suddenly, Pastor Dale appoints Vi Rose Hill as the new director to follow a traditional path of uplifting Gospel music. Bernard's sassy wife, GG, challenges Vi's authority, warning the new director that she needs to be open to suggestions if they are to win the Joyful Noise singing competition.

what the others say
"A join-the-dots parade of feel-good clichés. And not in a good way."
"Lots of talented young singers decorate the scenery, notably Jeremy Jordan who has vocal and acting chops that shine even in this bucket of Glee Goes Gospel cornpone."
The Hollywood Reporter
"Everyone on view is so fundamentally decent and goody-goody that no real tension or unresolvable conflicts ever surface."
