The plot: At the end of the 2001 baseball season, the Oakland Athletics suffer a bruising loss to the New York Yankees. General manager Billy Beane goes cap in hand to the team's owner for more money but his request is coldly turned down. As he searches for a solution, Billy crosses paths with Yale educated economist Peter Brand, who believes in analysing data and relying on the statistics to make decisions. Together, Billy and Peter set out to change the game forever.

what the others say
"As an example of smarter-than-average Hollywood fare - and a sly dig at modern sporting politics - Moneyball has all the key bases covered."
"You don't need to understand anything of baseball to get behind this, a chest-swelling story about second chances and flipping a finger up (even a giant foam one) to The Man."
"An accomplished, bracingly intelligent film that scores points on all fronts..."
