The plot: The headmistress of St Bernadette's is delighted when supply teacher Mr Peterson arrives to take charge of the excitable tykes. She leaves the new arrival in the less than capable hands of hyperactive classroom assistant, Mr Poppy, who has whipped the kids into a frenzy with news of a forthcoming national choir competition. The situation spirals out of control and Mr Peterson finds himself on the road with Mr Poppy and most of the class in an amphibious tour bus, bound for the competition in Wales.
