The plot: Sam and girlfriend Hannah are muddling through life in New York, where he is under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission for some of his dealings. As the pressure intensifies, Sam learns that his estranged father, record producer Jerry, has died from cancer. He refuses to attend the funeral in Los Angeles but Hannah insists that they go and makes the arrangements. The reunion between Sam and his mother Lillian is tense to say the least.
