The plot: In 1927, George Valentin is the screen idol of an entire nation. On set, he meets aspiring starlet Peppy Miller and George is smitten. With the advent of sound, George's fortunes wane and Peppy's star rises into the stratosphere to the delight of cigar-smoking Studio boss Zimmer. Fame is fickle and George and his trusty manservant Clifton must pay a hefty price.
