The plot: Newspaper journalist Ward Jansen returns home to 1969 Florida to challenge the conviction of death row inmate Hillary Van Wetter, who is accused of murdering a local sheriff. Ward's younger brother Jack, media colleague Yardley Acheman and Wetter's hilariously trashy fiancee, Charlotte Bless help and hinder the investigation as Ward wrestles with his own demons.
