The plot: Sensitive teenager Charlie is emotionally scarred by the suicide of a good friend and he is still haunted by the tragedy when he enters high school. The lad's father and mother hope he will blossom in higher education but at first, Charlie remains on the sidelines. With gentle encouragement from English teacher Mr Anderson, openly gay senior Patrick and his step-sister Sam, Charlie begins to take the thrilling leaps of faith of any teenager on the cusp of adulthood.
