live commentary

FULL-TIME:Stalemate at The Hawthorns. The second half was much more entertaining with both sides pushing for the win. West Brom twice hit the woodwork from corners and will feel more disappointed with the draw, but West Ham did enough to deserve a point. Collins and Winston Reid were outstanding at the heart of the Irons defence. Thanks for following our coverage.

90+4 mins:Olsson is shown a late yellow card. I think it was for dissent.

90+2 mins:Cole drills in a late shot but Myhill gets down and clings on to the ball.

90 mins:Four minutes for somebody to find a winner.

89 mins:Brunt taps the ball sideways to Rosenberg, but he slams the free-kick into the base of the wall. What a waste. Just hit the ball first time and then it can't be closed down.

88 mins:Odemwingie wins another free-kick after being fouled by O'Neil a yard outside the West Ham box. Great chance this for the Baggies...

86 mins:Now Tomkins is in the book for fouling Odemwingie. The free-kick us flapped clear by Jaaskelainen.

84 mins:Handbags are out between Nolan and Mulumbu, who are both booked after squaring up to each other.

83 mins:More activity from the bench as Swedish striker Rosenberg replaces Long.

81 mins:Tomkins comes on for Demel and immediately clears a corner.

79 mins:Cole outmuscles McAuley in the West Brom area and forces Myhill into a save but the striker is penalised for a foul. That looked harsh.

76 mins:West Ham respond by bringing on a sub of their own as Maiga replaces Jarvis, who is booed by the home fans as he jogs off because of his Wolves connection.

75 mins:West Brom make their first change as Lukaku replaces Gera.

74 mins:West Brom hit the woodwork for a second time! Again it comes from a corner as Morrison out-jumps a crowd of players and Jaaskelainen, but his close-range header crashes against the bar. Jones is booked for a foul after West Ham bring the ball away.

73 mins:Odemwingie flashes another cross past the West Ham goal before the home side earn a corner.

70 mins:The Baggies threaten again as they pour forward but West Ham's defenders are getting in the way of everything and clear after a scramble inside the box.

68 mins:Noble whips a free-kick towards the far post. O'Brien is on the end of the delivery and volleys the ball across goal and just over the bar.

65 mins:Brilliant defending by Winston Reid as he slides across his own six-yard box to clear Odemwingie's cross. Gera heads the resulting corner over the top.

61 mins:Gera tests Jaaskelainen with a swerving drive which the keeper parries. An outstretched Long turns the rebound goalwards but Jaaskelainen gets back to his feet to claim the ball.

60 mins:Winston Reid meets a West Ham corner at the near post but flicks his header off target.

58 mins:Odemwingie works his way into a shooting position on the edge of the box but blasts his attempt over.

55 mins:Cole causes a nuisance inside the Baggies box and the ball drops to Nolan, but the midfielder is stretching for the ball and slices his shot wide on the turn.

53 mins:There's a much quicker pace to the game as West Brom come forward again and Mulumbu sidefoots wide from 20 yards.

50 mins:Up the other end, West Ham almost pinch a goal as O'Neil curls a delicate strike beyond Myhill's grasp but the ball whistles just wide. There's been more action in these opening five minutes than the whole of the first half.

49 mins:West Ham survive a flurry of corners. The Baggies have come out all guns blazing.

48 mins:Off the bar! A deep West Brom corner is volleyed back into the mixer by Gera. Morrison hangs out his leg and the ball loops over Jaaskelainen and clips the roof of the crossbar. Another corner is awarded despite Morrison getting the final touch.

47 mins:Odemwingie scampers down the left and fires in a low cross which gets caught under Winston Reid's feet before the defender recovers to concede a corner.

46 mins:West Ham restart the game. Rob from Oldbury says, "Long and Odem to link up for the first goal. WBA to win 2-1."

HALF-TIME:Blah. Blah. Blah. That was a rather uneventful first half. West Ham had the better of the chances but there's not been much to shout about. Hopefully it will pick up after the break although I have my reservations.

45 mins:One minute added on at the end of this dreary first half.

43 mins:This first half is dragging. Cole claims he's been shoved on the edge of the West Brom box but he doesn't convince the referee.

40 mins:West Brom are struggling to find any rhythm and fluidity going forward. Collins and Winston Reid have been excellent at the back for the Irons.

36 mins:Good spell for West Ham as they go close again. Cole unleashes a fierce drive from 20 yards which Myhill palms away before his defence sweeps up.

32 mins:Best chance of the game falls to the visitors. Collins nods down a corner to Winston Reid, but the Kiwi hooks his shot over from six yards.

30 mins:Catching practice for Jaaskelainen as he snares Brunt's fizzing strike from 25 yards.

29 mins:O'Brien is the first player to be shown a yellow card after bringing down Gera. No complaints.

27 mins:Long turns away neatly from a challenge and has a sight on goal, but he drags his low shot just wide. He didn't get hold of it properly.

25 mins:West Brom are being restricted to crosses and shots from distance. Morrison pulls the trigger from 25 yards but scuffs his shot well wide.

22 mins:Not much in it so far. It's been quite scrappy. O'Neil is changing his boots which might make the highlights package of this first half.

18 mins:Taylor gets behind Popov down West Ham's right, but his ball across the six-yard box for Jarvis is too close to Myhill.

15 mins:Odemwingie has the first shot on target as he fires a 25-yard daisy-cutter straight at Jaaskelainen. Tommy from Dudley says, "Goals galore today at The Hawthorns. West Brom 4 West Ham 1."

13 mins:Brunt takes the free-kick but he fails to beat the West Ham wall. Disappointing effort.

12 mins:Morrison turns away from O'Neil and draws a foul about 25 yards from the West Ham goal. Decent chance to test the keeper.

9 mins:A deep free-kick is lofted into the West Brom box by Noble. A few heads go up but it's Jones who nods the ball away from O'Brien and Winston Reid. The latter needs treatment for a knock.

5 mins:Cole spreads a delightful ball to the back post where Taylor climbs above his marker and heads over. I think those two are the wrong way round.

3 mins:Positive start by the home side. Brunt whips a teasing cross into the six-yard box from the left, but Winston Reid does well to head the ball clear with Long lurking.

0 mins:The Baggies get us going at The Hawthorns. Liam from Newcastle says, "I reckon West Ham will win this 1-0 with ex-Toon player super Nolan scoring. Newcastle should never have got rid of him."

1545:Good afternoon and welcome to our live coverage from The Hawthorns. West Brom make two changes from their defeat at Arsenal. Steven Reid and Liam Ridgewell, who both came off injured at the Emirates, are replaced by Billy Jones and Goran Popov. West Ham make one change from their loss against Liverpool as Gary O'Neil starts in place of the injured Mohamed Diame. Big Sam has also only named six subs.

match report

West Brom and West Ham have not been in the best of form of late, so it came as little surprise to see them cancel each other out in a 0-0 draw at The Hawthorns.

The best of the chances during the first half fell to Winston Reid, but he volleyed over the top from close range.

The tempo was raised slightly after the interval, but West Brom saw their scoreless run stretched to three games - with two efforts from James Morrison which cannoned back off the crossbar as close as they came to forcing a breakthrough.

Albion made a promising start but the first semblance of a chance fell to the visitors, with Mark Noble heading a deep cross from Carlton Cole over the bar.

West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie was on target with a low 25-yard drive, although Jussi Jaaskelainen got his body behind the ball.

But there was little goalmouth action in the opening quarter of the game as both sides struggled to find a creative spark, although Morrison ventured forward to fire a low shot past the post.

Chris Brunt drilled a long-range attempt into the hands of Jaaskelainen before Reid spurned a gilt-edged chance for West Ham.

Cole stung the palms of Albion keeper Boaz Myhill with a 30-yard drive but it was Albion who started the second period on the offensive and Morrison's hooked volley struck the top of the bar.

Then the Scottish international sliced his shot wide after Gareth McAuley had headed a fourth successive corner from Brunt into his path.

Reid produced a vital clearance to turn a low Odemwingie centre over his own bar under pressure from Long. But West Ham looked dangerous on the counter-attack and Joey O'Brien volleyed over at full stretch from a deep Noble free-kick.

Morrison struck the bar for the second time with 17 minutes remaining with a header from Brunt's corner.

Cole nearly made the breakthrough in the final seconds when his snap shot had Myhill scrambling across his line to save at the foot of a post but a draw was a fair outcome.
