live commentary

FULL-TIME:What. A. Game. Liverpool were well on course for three points after Henderson added to Suarez's first-half strike, but Arsenal staged a thrilling comeback as two goals in two minutes from Giroud and Walcott turned the game around. Both sides were pushing for a late winner but will have to settle for a point apiece. Thanks for following our coverage.

90+4 mins:Almost a late winner for Liverpool! Suarez drives into the Arsenal box and thumps a low strike towards the bottom corner, but Szczesny keeps it out with his right hand.

90 mins:Mertesacker is booked for a foul as Liverpool force a free-kick which is cleared for a corner. Four minutes added on.

88 mins:Suarez hits a first-time strike from the edge of the box but skies his effort after good work by Downing down the right.

87 mins:Giroud almost steals it for the Gunners! Excellent build-up play inside the Liverpool box as Giroud's neat first touch finds Podolski. The German fires the ball across the six-yard box back to Giroud, but with the goal gaping, the Frenchman fluffs his lines.

85 mins:Giroud goes to ground on the edge of the Liverpool area after a tackle by Agger, but the Arsenal striker is booked for diving. He's not happy and is convinced there was contact, but the replays don't back his claims up.

84 mins:Giroud has been a real handful in this half. The Frenchman fires in a low shot from 20 yards which Reina turns behind for a corner. Giroud then rises to meet the set-piece but heads over.

81 mins:End-to-end now as Arsenal counter from a Liverpool corner. Cazorla is sent clear down the left and he flashes the ball across the six-yard box and wide of the far post.

78 mins:Wisdom concedes a free-kick down Arsenal's left. Cazorla swings in the set-piece which Mertesacker heads over.

75 mins:Liverpool are now hanging on. Arsenal have been a completely different animal since Giroud's goal. Now's a perfect time to remind you all that my prediction was 2-2 with Suarez to score first. Did I put a bet on it? Of course I didn't. D'oh!

73 mins:Bad tackle by Gerrard. His foot is off the ground as he slides in late on Mertesacker and the Liverpool skipper is shown a yellow card.

71 mins:Liverpool make their first change as Enrique replaces Sturridge.

70 mins:Arsenal are rampant right now. Walcott comes close to putting his side ahead, but his curling strike whistles just wide of the far post. Reina was beaten.

67 mins: GUNNERS NOW LEVEL!What a turnaround! Giroud lays Cazorla's pass into WALCOTT on the right of the area and he blasts the ball across Reina to equalise for Arsenal. Incredible fightback. Great finish after a lovely touch by Giroud.

65 mins: ARSENAL BACK IN IT!Wilshere curls a delicate free-kick into the mixer. It's beyond Agger's head and GIROUD is there to nod the ball low into the corner. Game on!

63 mins:Podolski plays a one-two with Giroud on the edge of the box but drills his first-time effort wide with his left peg.

60 mins: LIVERPOOL TWO UP!He's had plenty of stick in the past but HENDERSON deserves this goal for his performance. The midfielder skips past Mertesacker and holds off Santos inside the box. His initial effort is blocked by a combination of Santos and Ramsey, but the ball breaks perfectly for Henderson to sidefoot home.

57 mins:Good spell for Arsenal. Lucas fouls Wilshere to concede a free-kick in shooting range. Podolski's strike is blocked by the wall and he fires his follow-up straight into Carragher's midriff. That's knocked the wind out of his sails as the Liverpool veteran receives treatment.

54 mins:Headed chance for Walcott! Johnson is caught ball-watching as Walcott races in front of the Liverpool full-back to meet a cross, but he plants his effort a foot over from 12 yards.

51 mins:Podolski turns away from Wisdom and goes down inside the box. Arsenal appeal for a penalty but it's not awarded. Not for me. There was contact but Wisdom was just standing his ground.

49 mins:Bright start to the half by Liverpool. Sturridge controls a cross under pressure from Vermaelen. Both players appeal for handball against the other but nothing is given and Sturridge eventually miskicks wide.

46 mins:Liverpool get us back underway. No subs at the break.

HALF-TIME:The boos ring around the Emirates after a shambolic defensive display by Arsenal. They gifted Suarez a goal after a comedy of errors at the back and are lucky not to have conceded more. Reina has twice denied Walcott at the other end during an open first half, but there will be plenty more chances for Liverpool if the Gunners don't improve.

45 mins:Three minutes added on. "Wenger should have signed Mexes looks like Arsenal's defenders are looking for their zimmer frames," says Jason from Kent.

43 mins:Alan Hansen will be rubbing his hands together tonight when he analyses this Arsenal's defence. Downing knocks a simple ball down the left to Henderson, who is completely unmarked and in acres of space. Szczesny comes out to close the angle and so Henderson goes for the chip, but the ball sails just over.

40 mins:Nice move by the Gunners as they work the ball out wide before Giroud heads a cross straight at Reina.

37 mins:Gibbs is still struggling and limps off to be replaced by Santos. Not what Arsenal need when the rest of your defenders are performing like clowns. Bet Santos asks for Gerrard's shirt at half-time.

36 mins:Ramsey earns a corner after a strong run down Arsenal's left. The ball drops dangerously inside the box but Liverpool scramble it away. Daniel from Anglesey says, "Glad to see Wenger's got rid of his quilt too! Can see Liverpool winning 2-1 tonight. Come on you Reds!"

34 mins:Gibbs is back on his feet and will try and run off his injury.

32 mins:Gibbs pulls up and seems to have a leg injury. He's the only member from the Arsenal back five who hasn't made a glaring error in this first half.

29 mins:Henderson, who is playing really well in an advanced midfield position, finds Suarez unmarked on the right of the Arsenal area, but the Liverpool goalscorer drags his attempt wide of the far post.

27 mins:Liverpool unlucky not score a second! Gerrard's corner is met by Agger, who heads past a stranded Szczesny but Podolski is on the line to hack clear.

26 mins:Another defensive blunder by Arsenal. This time it's Mertesacker, who gives the ball away inside his own half. Henderson threads a pass through to Suarez, but Vermaelen tackles to concede a corner. Adams, Dixon and co will be having kittens.

25 mins:Cazorla is booked for a foul on Suarez.

23 mins:Arsenal break forward again. Cazorla passes to Podolski on the left, but his low cross towards Giroud is cleared behind by Gerrard. David from Barnsley adds, "Get your money on Giroud at any time tonight people. Stealing money! Best target man in the Prem."

20 mins:The lively Walcott bursts down the right and sends in a cross but it's too close to Reina. Simon from London says, "It is time for Sagna to move on now and Jenkinson to replace him. He has been poor all season and that is putting it nicely."

17 mins:Superb save by Reina! For the second time, the Spaniard denies Walcott a goal after tipping a banana shot around his post. There will be plenty more goals if both sides keep this up.

14 mins:A much-needed breather for everyone as Johnson receives treatment after challenging for a high ball.

12 mins:Podolski plays a low ball across the edge of the box to Giroud, who flashes his shot a few feet wide of Reina's goal. What a start to this game. I'm struggling to keep up.

10 mins:What are Arsenal doing back there?! This is embarrassing. Szczesny tries to beat Sturridge with a Cruyff turn inside his own six-yard box! The keeper, though, is out of his depth and only just clears the ball after Sturridge sticks in a tackle.

9 mins:Another chance for Liverpool. Suarez's stunning pass over the top of the defence is collected by Sturridge, but it's on his weaker side and he drags his right-footed effort wide from the edge of the box.

6 mins:Arsenal go straight up the other end and almost equalise! Wilshere's through ball finds Walcott, but his stinging shot is superbly saved by Reina's outstretched left arm.

5 mins: SUAREZ PUNISHES ARSENAL!A comedy of errors in the Gunners defence. Sagna loses his footing which allows Johnson a clear run down the left. Vermaelen makes a mess of clearing the full-back's cross which falls to Sturridge, but his effort is well blocked by Szczesny. Ramsey then fails to clear the loose ball and Suarez sweeps home from 10 yards. Shocking goal to concede. Arsenal had three chances to clear it.

3 mins:Liverpool force an early corner but the home side clear the danger.

0 mins:Wenger has ditched his coat after weeks of struggle with that zip as he takes his seat in the home dugout. Arsenal get us underway.

1942:Jay from Birmingham texts, "It hurts me to say it but if we play like a bunch of whimps like at Oldham, then this will be a cricket score. Walcott's on fire. Should've signed him!" The pre-match handshakes are taking place on the pitch.

1936:So it's sixth versus seventh with Arsenal three points ahead of their opponents heading into the game. Is this the battle for a Europa League spot?* Ross from Holywood says, "I'm hoping, due to confidence issues after Brendan Rodgers slated his own team's last performance, that Arsenal, with an in-form attacking force, beat Liverpool 3-1 with Walcott to score first." *Just winding you up.

1910:Good evening and welcome to our live coverage from the Emirates. Both teams recall their big guns following mixed results on the weekend in the FA Cup. Arsenal make six changes from their win at Brighton, with Walcott, Wilshere and Cazorla among those to return. Liverpool make seven changes from their humiliating defeat at League One Oldham as Gerrard, Carragher and Reina are named in the XI.

match report

Arsenal produced a second-half comeback to draw 2-2 with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

The home side's defensive weaknesses were exposed as goals from Luis Suarez and Jordan Henderson put the Reds two up but Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott salvaged a point for the Gunners.

While the visitors started brightly, there appeared no danger as the ball rolled towards Bacary Sagna but his stumble followed by Thomas Vermaelen's air-kick allowed Daniel Sturridge a clear sight at goal.

Wojciech Szczesny produced the save from close range but when Aaron Ramsey failed to clear, there was Suarez to tuck the ball away via a deflection off Per Mertesacker.

The lively opening continued as Walcott had an immediate opportunity to equalise as he got away down the right channel but saw his near-post drive brilliantly saved by Pepe Reina.

But it was Liverpool causing the bulk of the problems with Szczesny almost letting in Sturridge after some ill-advised dallying over a back-pass.

The Gunners goalkeeper was stranded again shortly afterwards when he came for a corner only to see Daniel Agger get there first and it required Lukas Podolski on the line to smuggle the ball away.

There was still time for Giroud to head at Reina and Henderson to misjudge a chipped effort with Szczesny off his line before the referee blew the whistle for half time.

Arsenal came out strongly after the interval but Henderson silenced the crowd on the hour mark with a mazy run from the right that - coupled with a fortunate deflection - saw him beat two men and tuck the ball away.

But just as Liverpool looked to have the game in the bag, Giroud headed home a free-kick from the right after good work from Walcott and the momentum was all with Arsenal once again.

Minutes later, Giroud turned provider as he laid the ball off for Walcott and the England man fired off a blistering shot that rifled past Reina before the Liverpool keeper had the chance to move.

Giroud then went close to completing the turnaround when he just failed to divert a cross-shot into the net with minutes remaining but the Gunners could not find a winner in an entertaining contest.
