live commentary

FULL-TIME: CITY WIN THE COMMUNITY SHIELD!And they have! Manchester City win what they hope to be the first of many trophies this season after a entralling match at Villa Park. We've had top-quality goals, a red card and another glimpse of the Fernando Torres of old. If that hasn't whet your appetite for the new season I don't know what will! Thanks for joining Orange's live coverage. Stay tuned for the full-match report.

Ev, Birmingham -"Looks like the Olympian atheletes performances has injected some heart into football, hope it remains for the season"

90+2 mins: That's very generous from the ref, who spares a Ramires a second yellow despite the Brazilian clearly taking out Silva. City looked to have seen this one out.

90 mins: Deary me! Aguero misses a sitter! How he managed to drag his tap-in wide from Milner's pinpoint cross I do not know! Four minutes added on to this very entertaining Community Shield.

89 mins: Man City eat up some more time by bringing on Dzeko for the impressive Tevez.

86 mins: Time running out now for Chelsea and Torres will be cursing the fact that his ball through to Ramires had too much power behind it.

83 mins: Chelsea are knocking at the door now despite their one-man disadvantage. Lampard, in the box, tries to nod the ball back into a fellow midfielder's path but there is nobody there to capitalise.

79 MINS: CHELSEA BACK IN IT! Some dodgy keeping has given the Blues a glimmer! Pantilimon spills Sturridge's weak shot and BERTRAND is there right on cue to smash home the rebound. He and Pantilimon are then both booked for having a petty wrestle over the ball.

76 mins: Fancy another sub? I thought so. Goalscorer Nasri is coming off for the silky Spaniard Silva.

73 mins: Here's another sub for Chelsea. Olympic flop Sturridge comes on for Olympic flop Mata.

70 mins: Chelsea try to disrupt Man City's fluency by making a substitution. New boy Hazard makes way for one of the Champions League heroes Bertrand.

Jez, iow -"Good game runied by a dredful descion ..Foul -yes Red card No !!!..."

68 mins: Man City are on the hunt for more but Luiz is on hand this time to win the ball back ahead of Nasri.

65 MINS: GOAL! CITY RUNNING AWAY WITH IT! Man City better start making some more room in the trophy cabinet! Kolarov provides the overlap for Tevez down the left, before picking out NASRI who flicks the ball beyond the helpless Cech from near the edge of the six yard box.

62 mins: Chelsea are losing their heads a bit here. Cole is next in the book after having enough of Tevez and tripping him up from behind.

59 MINS: CITY TAKE THE LEAD! Amazing goal from TEVEZ! In a central position, he dribbles away from Luiz before unleashing an absolute rocket into the top right corner, leaving Cech nailed to the spot. An amazing finish. The extra man is really beginning to show now!

56 mins:Back come City straight away with Nasri down the left. He gets to the byline and pops the ball into the centre where Milner is inches away from tapping in.

53 MINS: GOAL! CITY ARE LEVEL! We're back all-square at Villa Park! Milner's low cross from the right is cleared away poorly by Terry. It falls straight into the path of TOURE who slides the ball low past Cech from 18 yards out. A very neat finish.

51 mins: Kolarov's high, sweeping ball in from the right touchline very nearly found the inside of the far post but ends up flashing narrowly wide. A seemingly confident Cech wasn't getting anywhere near that!

49 mins: There's no stopping Chelsea's number nine. He embarks on another darting run forward and cleverly draws Kompany into making a foul in the centre of the pitch. Yellow card for the City captain.

Rehan Khan, Pakistan -"cant be fragile lead for Chelsea they now how to park the bus lol"

47 mins: Torres really looks like an eager beaver today. He advances into the box after a good run but back comes the recovering Clichy with the slide tackle

45 mins: Welcome back for the second-half where Chelsea will restart us. Man City make a change and it's Clichy coming on for Savic who has had a shocker of first half and was lucky not to be sent off himself.

HALF-TIME: Man City try to force their way back onto level terms but Cech's having none of it. The ref then brings an end to a first-half that exploded into life in the last five minutes. Not only have we potentially seen the resurgence of the now main man Fernando Torres, but there's also our first red controversy of the season after Branislav Ivanovic's hefty challenge. It feels like football has never been away! Join me again for the second-half in fifteen minutes.

Alan Pollard, Shaftesbury -"That was a definite red. 1-0 is looking fragile now."

45 mins: Three minutes of time added on at Villa Park. Half-time can't come quick enough with the game threatening to really boil over.

43 MINS: IVANOVIC SENT OFF! Blimey. An entertaining Community Shield game I can't believe it! Ivanovic's sliding tackle with studs showing on Kolarov's shin is deemed dangerous enough by referee Kevin Friend to send the Serbian off. Mikel is shown a yellow card for dissent as well. It's all going off!

40 MINS: TORRES SCORES FOR CHELSEA! A goal out of nowhere! Ramires' poked pass from the left makes its way through a whole host of bodies before finding the Spaniard. When it does, Torres coolly pops it over the committed Pantilimon. Is he going in your dream team now?!

36 mins: Cole tries his luck from distance for Chelsea but it's blasted into orbit. If you're wondering where Hart and Balotelli are by the way, the City keeper has a back injury (rather convenient with the friendly against Italy in midweek) and birthday boy Balotelli has conjunctivitis. So a quiet night in for him then...

33 mins: Ramires is the next player to be shown a yellow after he naughtily stopped a City counter attack from progressing any further than the half-way line

30 mins:The game really opened up there with Hazard prompting Pantilimon into a smart stop low to his left. Then at the other end, both Tevez and Milner see their efforts deflected away from goal.

27 mins: Apart from the dodgy back heel, Hazard is enjoying himself cutting inside from the left flank. He's involved in winning Chelsea's first corner which is ultimately wasted by Mikel with a woeful effort from long range.

24 mins: Milner plays a lovely dipping cross into the box from the right but Aguero, level with the near post, can only guide it across the face of goal. Chelsea immediately respond as Lampard stings Pantilimon's palms with a shot from 20 yards.

21 mins: Huge cheers from the City fans as they take great delight in seeing Hazard falling flat on his face after an attempted back heel. Even a misery guts like me managed to smile at that one.

19 mins: That's a better corner from Nasri who picks out Kompany well at the near post. Cech is clearly sighted though and is able to catch the firm, flicked on header.

17 mins: City's corner tally continues the rise but the service into the area is still lacking in quality.

15 mins: Aguero is given space to run at the heart of the Chelsea defence. A hefty touch actually turns into a nice pass for Nasri, but he can't help the ball over Cech from a tight angle deep inside the box.

Imran, Brum - "Hi there i was at villa ground on tour this wensday hope its a gud match 2 day gud luck 2 both teams guys."

12 mins: Mata wastes a good opportunity to test Pantilimon for the first time with an overcooked free-kick from near the right byline. Before that, an over-eager Savic was shown yellow for a full-blooded lunge in on Hazard.

10 mins: There's a couple of players still showing a bit of rustiness, namely Mikel who gifts the ball to Tevez inside his own half. Thankfully for Chelsea, Terry is there to cut the Argentine off.

7 mins: The game has settled down now with Man City seeing a bit more of the ball. They win a couple of corners but they are easily dealt with. Plenty of empty seats I notice...

4 mins:A much leaner, fitter Tevez forces Cech to punch away to his right from a curling free-kick just outside the area. He's obviously been keeping a firm eye on the calories over the summer.

2 mins: It's a frantic start at Villa Park. Both Nasri and Tevez for City, and Torres for Chelsea, all make meandering runs forward to give the defences something to think about.

0 mins: Man City, playing three at the back, get the 'traditional curtain-raiser' underway. Since the start of the Premier League, only seven of the 20 Charity/Community Shield winners have gone on to win the league

1328: After welling up every time I've heard the national anthem over the last few weeks, I'm pleased to report I just about held it together there as the two teams lined up. Chelsea are in traditional blue and City are playing in an all- burgandy kit.

Ben - "I've stuck a cheeky fiver on chelsea 3-2 at 33-1, so hoping for a five goal thriller with a chelsea win and use my winnings to fix my exhaust that decided to snap this morning while doing a good deed for an eldery lady not feeling well, karma reward me!"

1324: The league title, the FA Cup, the Community Shield and the two teams make their way out onto the pitch at a drizzly Villa Park. Keep your comments coming throughout the game and I'll weave the best ones in.

Paul -"Chelsea to draw 4-4 with Hazard to score first."

1311: From the law book itself Ben...ahem... "In the match a participating club may include on its team sheet up to 7 substitute players, of whom not more than 6 may take part." I'm learning all the time!

1309: Ben, Stafford - "Important rule in football - the community shield permits teams to use more than three substitutes as it is viewed as pre-season. Five can be used I believe?"

1233: I'm just hearing that Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell is to undergo a medical at Man City today. What do City fans make of that? Good signing? Also, the teams have just come in. Scroll down if you don't believe me!

1224:What's this? Domestic football?! I'd forgotten it even existed with all this Olympics malarkey on. Anyway, welcome along to Orange's live coverage of the FA Community Shield, where Chelsea take on Man City at Villa Park.

Marko Marin will miss Chelsea's Community Shield clash with Manchester City on Sunday. Summer signing Marin has been suffering with a hamstring injury for several days and will sit out the curtain-raiser at Villa Park. Chelsea have no other injury concerns for the match

Gareth Barry and Micah Richards have both been ruled out for City. Barry has failed to recover from the abdominal complaint that kept him out of Euro 2012, whilst Richards suffered an ankle injury as Great Britain bowed out of the Olympic tournament last weekend. Euro 2012 finalists David Silva and Mario Balotelli are both expected to start on the bench, whilst Blues skipper Vincent Kompany should shrug off a calf injury.

Although I've been well and truly struck by Olympic fever, I'll try my best to guide you through the 90 minutes (and maybe penalties). Kick-off is at 1330 so in the meantime, why not send your predictions and any important rules of football I should know via the box on the right of your screen. Also, if anyone knows if the loser of this will go into a repechage for a bronze medal then that would be great. Thanks!

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Mikel, Ramires, Mata, Hazard, Torres. Subs: Turnbull, Cahill, Bertrand, Meireles, Piazon, Sturridge.

Man City:Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kompany, Savic, Milner, De Jong, Yaya Toure, Kolarov, Nasri, Aguero, Tevez . Subs: Johansen, Clichy, Toure, Silva, Johnson, Razak, Dzeko.
