live commentary

90 mins:Full Time: Ireland 4-1 Oman. That's it! Ireland build on their opening World Cup qualifying win with a comprehensive victory over Oman tonight. Long, Brady, Doyle and Pearce the goal scorers for Trappatoni's men.

88 mins:McGeady shows great feet in the wide position before looking to thread the ball through for Keogh but the flag is raised.

86 mins:Just four minutes left in this one and it looks as though Ireland are going to clinch a convincing victory.

84 mins:GOAL: IRELAND 4-1 OMAN. Alex PEARCE rises well in the box to head home Aidan McGeady's corner and restore Ireland's three goal advantage.

81 mins:Cox looks to jink his way to the byline but the determined run is well ended by a sliding challenge.

80 mins:Another Al-Mukhaini enters the action as Al-Balushi makes way.

79 mins:Bashir rolls the ball into the run of Al-Hosni who shoots from the right channel but the effort is sliced wide.

78 mins:As is often the case with these friendlies, the substitutions have rather disrupted the flow of the game.

77 mins:Al-Jabri replaces Al-Mukhaini.

76 mins:Poor defending from St Ledger allows Al-Farsi in but Randolph denies the Oman international with a fine reflex save.

74 mins:McGeady is on for Brady.

73 mins:GOAL: IRELAND 3-1 OMAN. Al-Ghailani's corner drops to Al-Farsi in the box and his right-footed shot across the goal nestles in the bottom corner.

71 mins:Al-Hadrhi replaces Saleh.

71 mins:Bashir replaces Al-Muqbali.

70 mins:Meyler picks out McClean in the box and the Derry born winger fires a decent effort narrowly over the top.

68 mins:McClean races into the left channel and fires for the top corner forcing Al-Habsi to make a good save. Pearce meets the resulting corner and once again produces a save from the keeper.

67 mins:The game is getting a little scrappy at the moment with a string of niggling fouls.

66 mins:Simon Cox replaces James McCarthy.

65 mins:Oman are doing a little better at creating good looks at goal in this second half but so far they can't find the net.

62 mins:Al-Ghailani gets down the flank and clips the ball into the middle for Al-Muqbali who's header goes wide.

60 mins:McClean comes on! The fans agree with that decision - time to walk the walk. Doyle is the man who makes way.

59 mins:Am-Mahsri delivers the resulting corner and picks out Al-Ghailani but his glancing header drifts wide.

58 mins:Al Farsi sends a powerful effort towards goal from a long way out but Randolph matches it with a fine save.

56 mins:Trappatoni will be satisfied with what he has seen in the midfield. Oman recently earned a qualifying point against Australia, so they are not to be dismissed too quickly.

54 mins:The corner comes in but Al-Muqbali goes down in the box and Oman win a free-kick.

53 mins:Impressive play from Robbie Brady as he jinks past three players before forcing a corner for his team.

51 mins:Doyle slips the ball into the path of Keogh who shoots first time but Al-Habsi does well to parry it wide.

49 mins:Oman look to break down the left hand side but Coleman shows great pace in getting back to cover.

47 mins:McCarthy picks the ball up in midfield and slides the ball wide for Brady but he can't find a team-mate with the cross.

46 mins:Randolph replaces Forde in goal while Pearce replaces Wilson for the Irish.

46 mins:The second half begins.

45 mins:Halftime: Ireland 3-0 Oman. The halftime whistle goes and its so far so good for Trappatoni's men.

43 mins:Al-Habsi saves a header from St Ledger after a good corner from Brady.

42 mins:Just a few minutes left before the interval now.

40 mins:The ball breaks for Saleh who tries a snap shot from the edge of the area but the effort swerves wide.

39 mins:Brady and Coleman work the ball nicely and tee up the arriving Meyler but his shot flies over from twenty yards.

38 mins:Ireland on cruise control now. At least the relatively small Craven Cottage crowd have been treated to some goals this evening.

36 mins:GOAL: IRELAND 3-0 OMAN. Kevin DOYLE nets the third! Brady whips in a free-kick, won by Doyle, and picks out the Wolves striker who confidently heads home.

34 mins:Brady tees up Coleman on the edge of the box but he can only strike over on his weaker left-side.

32 mins:A tidy passing move from Ireland ends in a curling effort over from James McCarthy. Confident stuff from the men in green.

30 mins:McCarthy wastes a free-kick in a decent position after Doyle was brought down by Al-Mashri.

28 mins:Shane Long makes a good break down the right hand side and beats a couple of players before earning a throw.

27 mins:Ireland are looking good for their two goal lead here at Craven Cottage. For the most part, the Irish have moved the ball nicely in midfield.

25 mins:Wilson looks to feed the ball through for Doyle but the Wolves striker is judged to have run offside.

23 mins:GOAL: IRELAND 2-0 OMAN. Just as Oman were growing into the game Ireland double their lead. Robbie BRADY finds the bottom corner with a driven shot from the edge of the box.

22 mins:McCarthy gifts possession away in his own half allowing Oman to come forward but Al-Hosni can only strike wide from the right channel.

21 mins:Keogh shoots instinctively from the edge of the box and stings the palms of Al-Habsi who saves down to his left.

20 mins:Forde steps across his goal to see another long range effort from Oman fly well wide of the target.

18 mins:The ball is cut back to Al-Hosni on the edge of the box but he skews his shot well wide.

17 mins:Meyler picks up a knock to the back of his head in an aerial challenge but should be OK to continue.

16 mins:Juma Al-Mashri strikes for long range but the right-footed shot goes narrowly wide of the upright.

15 mins:David Meyler ushers the ball back to Forde with confidence to put an end to a decent Oman attack.

13 mins:Keogh drifts into space in the box and is well found but can only head it straight at Al-Habsi.

11 mins:Brady looks to have sprung the defense but is flagged offside. The winger would have been in then.

10 mins:Oman look to spring forward after a clumsy piece of play from McCarthy but St Ledger makes a valuable interception.

9 mins:Despite that early goal the game is still quite pedestrian at the moment.

7 mins:GOAL: IRELAND 1-0 OMAN. Whelan curls a free-kick towards the back post. St Ledger rises well and heads across goal for the waiting Shane LONG who turns home from close range.

5 mins:Oman waste a free-kick in an advanced position and Ireland break quickly but Coleman's shot is straight at Al-Habsi.

4 mins:Robbie Brady crosses from the left hand side and picks out Keogh in the middle but he can only head wide.

3 mins:Al-Habsi is forced into an early save as his own man inadvertently sends Coleman's cross towards his own goal.

2 mins:Ireland knock the ball around the defense relatively unopposed only for St Ledger to play the ball straight into touch looking for Coleman.

1 mins:Its a very disappointing turn out at Craven Cottage as the game gets underway.

Keeper Ali Al-Habsi is probably the only familiar figure in the squad and starting eleven for Oman this evening. Can any of these players grab the attentions of the wider football world?

Doyle skippers the Irish this afternoon while James McClean remains among the substitutes after his recent twitter outburst.
