As if on cue, the heavens opened over Glastonbury in the early hours of this morning and the rain brought the curtain down on a memorable festival.

After watching Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen on Friday and Saturday, Michael Eavis called this Glastonbury “the best one ever”. And, after tonight’s brilliant comeback show from Blur, Emily Eavis has just Twittered to say it’s “one of the greatest and most emotional sets we have ever seen.”

A few final thoughts

Blur brought Glastonbury 2009 to a close tonight with a storming show that had the huge crowd in front of the Pyramid Stage singing, jumping and dancing along to hit after hit. One of the big singalong highlights was Parklife when Phil Daniels joined Damon Albarn onstage to repeat his part in the original recording and video. Our competition-winning blogger Oliver Booker was there to witness the moment.

It’s the final hours of Glastonbury 2009 - and the final headliners are on stage. Blur are wowing the huge crowd on the Pyramid Stage, Black Eyed Peas are on the Jazz World Stage, Echo and the Bunnymen on the John Peel Stage, Georgie Fame on the Acoustic Stage and here in front of the Other Stage we’ve got our glowsticks out for The Prodigy. What a night!

Three-year-old Laurie McPhillips from London gets the Nick Cave vibe - he even had a bleeding thumb! That’s dad Stewart in the background.

Back at camp taking in some Madness. Call me controversial but can we can the flags? After The Quo at lunchtime spent time wandering the green fields. Yesterday Kasabian rocked the crowd proper. We then partied with Jarvis before we managed to have one dance in the dark with Bruce. My mate even managed to meet The Boss when he dropped in the Peel tent. Tonight i feel is going to end in a blur. Come on!

It’s the news we’ve been waiting for all festival: I met father and son Glyn and Ben, from Stoke on Trent, on the train on the way down and they were arguing over what to do tonight when there’s a three-way clash between Nick Cave on the Pyramid Stage, Glasvegas and The Prodigy on the Other Stage and The Wombats on the John Peel Stage.

This text just in:

dilemma solved! we r goin 2 c nick cave then the bunnymen. saw the wombats last nite 2 fit most things in! fantastic wkend! Specials rule! Glyn + Ben

So a result: Ben’s just going to have to grin and bear Nick Cave! The team who are editing the blog back at base told me they’re convinced they saw a euphoric Glyn dancing to The Specials on BBC 2’s coverage on Friday night. Judging from the text it might well have been. Have a great night guys!
