What exactly is Monkey?

Monkey's an animal package, like Dolphin, Canary, Racoon and Camel. But it's also new and a bit different: we've created it with 4Music, and it gives you free access to thousands of your favourite tracks online and on your mobile, plus loads of free texts.

How can I join Monkey?

It depends:

Already on Orange pay as you go? Then its dead easy - you just need to change your animal package to Monkey. You can do it online in Your Account. Or you can call 343 from your Orange pay as you go phone.

Not on Orange pay as you go? It's still pretty easy. You can order a free Monkey SIM card by clicking here. Or you can choose Monkey at the same time as getting a new phone by clicking here. Or you can head to one of our shops and we'll set it all up for you.

Got friends who might like to join? If so, you can order them a free Monkey SIM by clicking here. That way, you can send your Monkey playlists to each other completely free.

So I'm on Monkey, but how do I get my free music and free texts?

All you need to do is top-up by £10 or more each month - that's it.

Once you do that, just go to www.orange.co.uk/monkey. There you'll get unlimited access to the music player (which works a bit like iTunes) for a month. You can also call 247 and listen to your favourite playlists on your mobile for up to 600 minutes a month - also free.

How many free texts you get depends on how much you top up over the course of a month. Top up by £10 and you get 300 free texts. Top-up by £20 a month for 600 texts. Or top-up by £30 or more a month for 1,000 texts.

How do I actually listen to music with Monkey?

There are two ways to listen to music with Monkey:

Online. This is the best place to start.

Log in to the Monkey website using your mobile number and a password of your choice. Then the tracks on our music player are all yours.

The music player itself works a bit like iTunes: you can listen to latest release playlists, popular playlists and your mates' playlists, as well as dragging and dropping your favourite tracks into your own playlists for free. Once you've added tracks to your playlists you can listen to them online as much as you like.

On your mobile. You do this by calling 247 from your Orange pay as you go phone. And as long as you've topped-up by £10 or more then you can listen for 600 minutes a month for free.

Once you've called 247 you can choose one of our ready-made playlists or listen to a playlist you've created on the Monkey website. You can also check out a friend's playlist using their unique 7-digit playlist number (which they can text straight to your phone).

How much does Monkey cost?

Monkey's free to join (like all our animal packages). Then as long as you top-up by £10 or more a month, you get free music online and 600 minutes of free music on your mobile, along with loads of free texts every month. You also get our simple flat rate of 20p a minute for calls and 10p for texts to any network, anytime.

When you call 247 to listen to your music, you can also press 5 to get a free text message with the track name and artist of the song you're listening to. And you can share your playlists with friends by sending them a free text from the Monkey website.

Paying to listen to music

If you're on Monkey but you've not topped-up by £10 in a month, or you've used up all your free minutes (which would be quite a feat), you can still call 247 to listen to music but it will cost 5p a minute (or 10p a minute if you're in your Reserve Tank).

If you're on Orange, but not on Monkey you can call 247 or 07973 100 247 for 5p a minute to listen to a friend's playlist, but you'll need their playlist code before you call.

If you're on another network or calling from a landline you can call 07973 100 247 to listen to a friends playlist. Your operator sets the cost for this call, so check with them if you're not sure.

It works both ways, too: if you want to keep track of your friends' playlists, you can follow them on the Monkey site and see any new tracks they add. Easy.

I've seen something nasty on the Monkey website - how can I report it?

If you see something you don't like the look of, whether it's a picture, a playlist name, a username or a comment, hit the 'report' link and let us know - we'll sort it out.

I've got a problem with my mobile phone - where can I get help?
