Breaking hearts since the early '80s, Jon Bon Jovi is one of the most enigmatic, not to mention handsome, frontmen in the business.
And, as their appearance on The X Factor proved, his band rock just as hard now as they did back in 1986 - when the release of Slippery When Wet brought them instant fame and fortune.
'We Weren't Born To Follow', the first single to be taken from their latest studio album, The Circle, is as rousing as their mega hits 'You Give Love A Bad Name' and 'Livin' On A Prayer' - albeit without the latter's legendary key change.
Intended as an upbeat message to those affected by the economic downturn, Jon's gravel-throated delivery of lines like, "Come on and get up off your knees/When life is a bitter pill to swallow/You gotta hold on to what you believe/Believe that the sun will shine tomorrow," is earnest and affecting.
All the while backed by Richie Sambora's pulsing and shrieking guitar tones, 'We Weren't Born To Follow' marks a great return to form from rock royalty.
