They lost out on X Factor glory to Alexandra Burke last year, but JLS are anything but losers. They've had two No.1 singles and their self-titled debut album looks set to zoom up the charts this weekend. We caught up with the lads to talk about their success so far....
How did you find the experience of taking part in X-Factor?
JB: X Factor was an absolutely amazing experience for us because it gave us so much of the training that we needed for what we're doing now. All the interview work, all the TV work, all the performance work that we did. Obviously we did the tour off the back of it as well, which puts us in good stead for when we do our own tour. It was a crash course for everything that we're doing now.
How did you feel when you found out that Alexandra Burke had won?
Aston: In the final, the names get read out for the winners and Dermot [O'Leary] does this long pause. Obviously he called out Alexandra's name but I thought for that split secondwhen he said "Aaa..." I thought he was going to say "Aston-Marvin-JB-Oritsé" and say JLS and I was ready to cheer. Then I looked up and it wasn't, it was Alexandra, so I felt a bit stupid.
Who was your favourite judge?
Oritsé: Our favourite judge? Well I have to stay loyal. It's Louis Walsh.
Marvin: He's an absolute legend.
Oritsé: He mentored us on the show. He's so proud, I think this is everything that he wanted for us and we feel it was good.
Aston: The best one to look at though is probably Cheryl [Cole], come on.
Oritsé: Yeah, of course.
Aston: When you were there with the judges singing your song you were singing it to Cheryl.
What are your fans like?
Oritsé: I have girls camping outside my front door. This morning I was running for my training and I saw one of them in the street. But I had my hat on so I had to run around the corner so she wouldn't chase me home. Our supporters get quite innovative, they're the extreme kind. They're very clever.
Aston: They even know how to hot wire hotels and turn the electricity off in hotels and stuff. They're very clever. 14-year-old girls with bolt cutters, cutting hotel wires.
The lads' latest single, 'Everybody In Love', is available from the Music Store now.
