Baer v Braddock: James Braddock was merely considered a journeyman when he faced heavweight champion Max Baer. Baer was so confident of an effortless win he barely bothered training, while Braddock said: "I'm training for a fight, not a boxing contest or a clowning contest or a dance". Braddock had been picked as a contender as he was seen as easy prey but he stunned the boxing world as he won the 1935 bout on a unanimous points decision.
