Louis v Schmelling: When Joe Louis went toe-to-toe with Max Schmelling in 1936, he had not been knocked to the canvas in his professional career. So you know what happened next. Schmelling put him down in the fourth, and although Louis got back to his feet, he was knocked down again - and this time unable to recover - in the 12th. Louis went to his knees, then the ropes, and finally flat down to the canvas for a monstrous upset.
